Federal government jobs are plentiful and on any given day you can find over 20,000 jobs posted on www.usajobs.opm.gov. Searching the USAjobs website is the first step in securing a government job.

Developing a government resume to match the federal vacancy announcement you select is the second step. A federal government resume is longer than a private sector resume and requires additional information such as your social security number, addresses of current and former employers, salaries, and other specific information.

Our team of Certified Federal Resume Writers develops strategic and targeted government resumes. We take comprehensive measures to ensure that you are well qualified for the federal jobs you select prior to developing your government resume.

Our experienced Federal and Military Transition Career Coaches will review your career documentation and perform a free evaluation to determine your eligibility for the federal vacancy announcement or federal series of interest.

Our Career Coaches are highly skilled and trained in evaluating your experience and educational foundation against specific federal grade levels and series to ensure you are a good fit to apply for your federal job of interest. Our Company will read all the fine print in the federal job vacancies to determine if there are any eligibility stoppers.

Below are only a few eligibility stoppers:
  1. If the vacancy announcement states Status Candidates, this means you must currently be a federal employee or have VEOA eligibility, or other factors.
  2. Must have at least 52-weeks of time in the next lower grade; means that if you are applying for a GS-11 position you must have at least 52 weeks of experience performing at the GS-9 level. You do not have to be a federal employee, but we will help you determine your eligibility.
  3. Must have a minimum of 3 years of directly related experience or a Bachelors Degree in a specified field. Our Career Coaches will evaluate your experience and determine if you will meet the 3 year experience requirement in lieu of a degree.
  4. Review the KSAs (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Statements) sometimes required in addition to a federal resume. Our Career Coaches will discuss each KSA, also known as Essay Questions, for on-line applications. We will consult with you to determine if you can respond to and support at least 90% of the specified questions.

You want a federal job and we want to help you get hired. But, we dont want to make the process any more frustrating than it already is. Therefore, eliminating specific eligibility stoppers prior to application will allow you to aim for the federal jobs that you are qualified for and provide a viable focus for your efforts.

Gone are the days where you can submit a one resume fits all form to the federal government. Today, federal resumes or on-line federal applications must be concise, keyword enriched with your experience, and possess good quantitative and qualitative data. Your resume must be targeted and show that you qualify, or better yet, are best qualified to fill the specific federal job at the specific federal agency of interest.
