FEDERAL RESUME: A Federal Resume may now be used in lieu of the uninspiring OF-612 or SF-171 application forms; however, it must comply with the OPM OF 510 requirements. Federal applications often require narrative statements (KSAs, ECQs); your responses to these questions are critical to the success of your Federal application. Our proven strategies will maximize your opportunities by showcasing your relevant qualifications and achievements into a distinguished presentation. Federal jobs are plentiful in the State of Utah.

MILITARY TRANSITION RESUMES: Military skills are desirable to civilian employers when they clearly understand how your skills relate to their requirements. We craft a job-winning resume by converting your military history - such as job titles and experience - into civilian terminology while targeting your new career goals and showcasing your most relevant skills and achievements. Our writers are the first writers in the industry to have earned the coveted Certified Military Resume Writer Credential.

The federal government is an excellent employer and you can find entry-level jobs at www.usajobs.opm.gov. We'll take the guesswork out of writing your federal resume.

TEACHER RESUMES: You are one of the most sought after individuals today. Every year there are hundreds of thousands of teaching positions available in all types of educational environments. Yet teachers are the least likely to market their skills, experience and contributions. Let our resume writers market your talents and place your resume ahead of your competition for higher paying teaching or administrative job.

ARE YOU UNDERPAID: Are you making as much money as you should be? If you've been pondering this question, you're not alone. A 2006 survey by staffing services company Randstad USA and Harris Interactive found that 39 percent of employees surveyed believe their salary is lower than market rates, up from 28 percent surveyed in 2005. Meanwhile, 50 percent of employers think the salaries they offer are on par with the marketplace, up from 42 percent in 2005. Do you know that marketing yourself with a professionally prepared resume can substantially increase your chances of being hired at a hire salary? KSAs (Knowledge, Skills, and Ability Statements)

The federal government wants to make sure that they match each person to each job perfectly. In addition to a federal resume, some federal agencies require KSAs to be developed in response to specific questions relating to the federal job.

  1. A KSA is comprised of one or two very specific examples of your experience and developed in a CCAR (Content, Challenge, Action and Result) statement.
  2. When writing a KSA you must tell a story of a situation combined with your experience. A KSA may also be asked in the form of or called an Essay Question.
  3. An Essay Question is usually designed to be developed or cut and pasted into an online resume builder.
  4. Some KSA builders allow 4,000 characters, while others allow up to 8,000 characters.
  5. Each KSA must be concise, powerful, include the CCAR and specifically address the question asked.

The following statements are frequently asked KSA questions:

What are KSAs?

When you apply for a Federal Government position, some Federal job announcements require additional statements. These statements are known as KSAs - Knowledge, Skills, and Ability statements. They also may be called Selective Factors, Key Elements, TQs (Technical Qualification statements), KSAOs (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics). If they are asked for, they are required.

What Do KSAs Require?

For many announcements, these questions are separate 3/4 to 1 page answers to questions related to the job you are applying for. Other announcements may specify other lengths - or may ask to include answers to the KSAs in your RESUMIX resume. Some announcements require you to cut and paste your KSA answers in an online application. You will need to read each announcement carefully for the requirements.

How Do You Answer KSAs?

KSAs can be difficult questions to answer. Each KSA must be addressed in a CCAR (Content, Challenge, Action and Result) statement. Each answer will be graded from 5 to 20 points per answer - and are critical in being ranked as "qualified" or "best qualified".

How Are KSAs Priced?

We price our KSAs based on the amount of time it will take us to write them for you. We write the KSAs so they can be reused for other positions that ask similar questions - saving you money as you apply for Federal positions.

What Do We Recommend?

We recommend that we write both your KSAs and Federal Resume. By doing this, you will submit a complete package that represents you at your best, with the Federal Resume including all pertinent information in the KSAs. However, if you think your Federal Resume is already a polished document, we are happy just to write your KSAs.

Senior Chief Yaglowski (Retired)

Jan, I was really and honestly surprised by your going to your boss to request approval to do this for me and my family. If you have the opportunity please extend my sincere appreciation to your company President, Barbara Adams too. I can't believe that you all did this for us. Speaking honestly...this past year has been nothing but an uphill fight and so few things came easily.

I am so proud that I chose your company last year to help me with resumes and such. For once something panned out and it did not require doctors, medicine, referrals and hours in prayer. Not only do you provide quality products with attention to detail, but there is genuine compassion and understanding at your end as well. You have gained a loyal customer and friend just because of your integrity and honest dealings with the everyday person.

At this time I am so happy I could jump over the moon!! It has been nice working with you and thank you for the excellent job on my military resume.

Also...with your permission I would like to recommend you to a few Marines that I know are getting out and retiring here at my location.

J.H. GySgt. - Armory Chief

Two weeks after I turned in my application for the federal position I interviewed and a week later I was hired. The interviewer said after the hiring process was complete that my resume and KSAs were some of the best that he has ever seen.

D. Simmons, US Army

I would like to express my gratitude on the excellent service you provided to me on my resume and KSAs. Like I said before, the context and format was excellent on the first draft, and I appreciate your understanding concerning the sensitivity of my current job. I would also like to personally thank you for your availability, your patience, and being able to put my experiences on paper. I would highly recommend your services to my co-workers. Thank you for all that youve done.

Ricardo D., Retired Navy

We take great pride in the military resumes we produce for our military veterans.

SES

SES (Senior Executive Service) Applications

Senior Executive Service (SES)

personnel lead the continuing transformation of the Federal government. Leaders chosen to SES positions possess well-honed executive skills and share a broad perspective of government and a public service commitment which is grounded in the Constitution. Per the Civil Service Reform Act of 1978, the SES was designed to be a corps of executives selected for their leadership qualifications.

SES personnel serve in the key positions just below the top Presidential appointees, and as such, are the major link between these appointees and the rest of the Federal work force. They operate and oversee nearly every government activity in approximately 75 Federal agencies.

SES applications consist of the following:

  • Federal Resume
  • Executive Core Qualifications (5 ECQs)
  • Technical Qualfications (TQs) or other Required Factors
  • Managerial Technical Qualifications (MTQs) or Professional Technical Qualifications (PTQs)
  • Cover Letter - recommended for paper-based applications

Executive Core Qualifications (ECQs)

The ECQ essays are required for entry into the SES and are used by many departments and agencies in selection, performance management and leadership development for management and executive positions. The ECQs define the competencies to build a Federal corporate culture to drive for results, serve customers and build successful teams and coalitions with and outside the organization. Typically these essays are 1-2 pages.

The 5 ECQ essays to be written:

  • Leading Change This core qualification involves the ability to bring about strategic change, both within and outside the organization, to meet organizational goals. Inherent to this ECQ is the ability to establish an organizational vision and to implement it in a continuously changing environment
  • Leading People This core qualification involves the ability to lead people toward meeting the organization's vision, mission and goals. Inherent to this ECQ is the ability to provide an inclusive workplace that fosters the development of others, facilitates cooperation and teamwork and supports constructive resolution of conflicts
  • Results Driven This core qualification involves the ability to meet organizational goals and customer expectations. Inherent to this ECQ is the ability to make decisions that produce high-quality results by applying technical knowledge, analyzing problems, and calculating risks
  • Business Acumen This core qualification involves the ability to manage human, financial, and information resources strategically
  • Builings Coalitions This core qualification involves the ability to build coalitions internally and with other Federal agencies, State and local governments, nonprofit and private sector organizations, foreign governments, or international organizations to achieve common goals.
